Hi there. "Who could imagine" just arrived in the post today. It always feels great to listen to artists who have the ability to make me laugh and cry almost at the same time. Like Randy Newman. I seem to get a similar feeling listening to this stuff. I've always loved "Odyssey" on the KISS album, but it's good to finally hear a whole album of your stuff.
Incidentally, the chord progression/descending bass in "Sadly" reminds me of Bowie's "Wild-eyed boy from Freecloud". It's not identical, but a similar vibe. Are you familiar with it?
Anyway, I love your stuff!

Hey Tony,
Like many, I first experienced the joys of "Don't Nobody Move (This Is a Heist)" on USA's Night Flight. So great to see it again. Follow this link to find a brief comment on it from me, pre fact-check edit: http://bitstream.soundandvisionmag.com/blog/2008/10/mtv-music-every-video-ever.html
Now I'm gonna go get me a copy of the CD. Would love to chat sometime... keep keeping it real.

Tony,
I've forwarded "How Do Ya" to everyone I know and have had responses like,
"This is very wise, very well done, very moving....thank you for sharing...with so many good people creating art like this, how can Obama lose? xx
and
"This is powerful - Can't believe we are actually living through it. Thanks for sending the email."
Linda would be proud of you as I certainly am.
Love,
Stephen

Tony hope you remember me in the 60's you discovered me under the El in Sunnyside, Queens singing with Ricky & The Hallmarks - you brought us down to meet Ellie/Jeff (Trio Music) in the 60's the rest is history - Management and Production under Lieber & Stoller with Ellie & Jeff - then on the Big Time Productions (The Tokens) -had a number of records out - first one on United Artists (Jerry Ragavoy (It Was Me Yesterday)- then Rust, Jubilee, BT Puppy - etc. Also was an original 'lypsync vocalist' (never on the recording) on the traveling group of Ellie's group, The Raindrops - Through the years, I've always been working and performing at rock and roll shows, plus recordings, pop and standards - my collectible cd is called "the secret's out' - she's the kind of girl you can't forget, Beverly Warren.
I, myself lived in New Orleans and was the original 'Valerie' in Vince Vance & The Valients - they still call me Valerie down there.
- Hope you remember me - How our introduction began was I believe you were on the road to the White Castle in Sunnyside, Queens and heard the group under the El hitting notes and singing Skyliner material; you stopped; liked the sound - gave us your card and initiated us down to the Brill Building - Would be great to hear from you - as you started my journey .... and by the way I'm still a really great singer who is always looking for work, too.
Sincerely,
Beverly Warren

Hey Tony,
Thanks much for the comment on my blog (linking to "Don't Nobody Move..."), located at www.mediafunhouse.blogspot.com. I wrote you through YouTube, as I wasn't sure how to contact you. I can be reached at the attached e-mail.
Suffice it to say I've had "Don't Nobody Move..." in my head for the last two decades, and lovin' it! I look forward to hearing your latest tunes, your prior credits were a great revelation to me.
That song and video is absolutely steeped in NYC. And wonderful as hell.

Mr.Powers,
I'm a huge Kiss fan, and Odyssey has always been my favorite Kiss song. It wasn't until recently (you tube) that I heard your version. It's absolutely BRILLIANT! You're version is unbelievably better than Kiss's and they are my favorite band (of course it is your song!). This discovery has lead me to midnight trampoline and Don't move. Absolutely fantastic. On par with the anything in the past 30 years. You sir are one in a million.
Cheers

Tony, glad to see you around on the internet and that so many people do know and remember your hillarious and funky "Don't Nobody Move" cut and video.
For many years ive been a fan of that entire musicfilm and bought a copy when it was still in print years ago. "Odyssey" and "Midnight Trampoline" are also great tracks with great production. They just dont make music like this anymore.
Im also happy to say that ive finally after almost 2 decades of searching, have finally located a copy of your 5 track EP "This Is A Heist" on Trans Lux. When I recive it in the mail I plan to do a vinyl to digital restore on it.
Heard the samples of your new LP as well, sounds like some good stuff (even the recut of "Dont Nobody Move" sounds like you used the same backing track with some added percussion..nice!).
Just wanted to leave this comment here to let you know there's yet another person out here who has really dug your stuff for many years.
DJ Jimmy M
P.S. Even though your part in "Goodfellas" was brief, many love your one line "i gotta go get the papers the papers"..should make a tune simmaler to "dont nobody move" off that line LOL

I've been searching the internet on information on you for years. There's a rumor out there that you wrote the Banana Split song. I became your fan when I first saw, "Don't Nobody Move..." on Night Flight all those years ago. You're a genius! You're also funny and a hell of an actor too. Can't wait for your new CD.
